myON is expanding its digital literacy platform to include a set of literacy tools to further personalize the reading experience for students, while growing instructional capabilities for teachers. These literacy tools will be an addition to myON’s existing digital collection of more than 7,000 enhanced digital books with multimedia scaffolds and embedded assessments.
The first set of literacy tools to be released includes tools to support close reading. Students can use embedded tools in all myON digital books to practice close reading skills like highlighting and note taking. More than 70% of the myON collection is composed of informational text, which serves as a base from which educators can teach how to cite evidence to support the text with close reading. The myON license ensures that each book is always accessible no matter how many students are reading, and that each student has a personal copy for their own close reading. This allows teachers and students to collaborate together and interact with texts in new ways.
myON is the first company to offer unlimited access to authentic digital content and reading growth assessments, tools and data, according to the announcement. With the addition of new literacy tools, educators can easily review students’ close reading activities in a digital environment.
Close reading tools are the first in the lineup within the expansion of the myON literacy platform. More tools will be announced and added to the myON platform over the coming twelve months. For a limited time, all myON customers will have free access to the literacy tools as they’re added to the platform.
