News@NECC: LearnStar Debuts the SmartTRAX Program

LearnStar, Inc. has announced it is debuting is newest software, SmartTRAX, at the National Education Computing Conference in Philadelphia June 28-30. The SmartTRAX Program (Teaching, Reviewing and Assessing Across the Curriculum) is designed as a tool to introduce, instruct, and assess standards-based curriculum and to analyze student progress on an individual or whole-class basis, according to the announcement. The interactive curriculum includes thousands of question items across all grades and subjects for use in LearnStar's race-to-the-finish style challenge, a learning method that has been proven to significantly improve test performance when integrated in the regular instructional process, the announcement states.

SmartTRAX's redesigned question bank provides for a more flexible user interface, including standards-based question searches and reporting. SmartTRAX software can be implemented on a wide combination of wired and wireless platforms, including Palm OS, Pocket PC, Windows or Macintosh portables and desktops, and LearnStar's RF Keypad response system.

New activities and features include homework activities for use with portable student computing devices, student- and teacher-paced activities for quizzing and assessing, and a survey tool that will allows teachers to incorporate questions, answers, and student feedback on the spot. The enhanced editor includes a rich text editor and improved multimedia controls for advanced question development.
