The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) recently released the second edition of its National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NET*S).
The revised standards focus more on skills and expertise and less on technology tools. The update addresses creativity and innovation; communication and collaboration; research and information fluency; critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making; digital citizenship; and technology operations and concepts.
The new publication includes the full text of the revised NET*S and performance indicators, student profiles and examples, and the results of a scenario survey.
The ISTE member price is $11.65; the non-member price is $12.95.
First published in 1998, the National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NET*S) were the result of nearly three years of development among a broad range of stakeholders. Used in every U.S. state and in many other countries, the standards are credited with significantly influencing expectations for students and their use of technology.
