Discovery Education has announced that it has launched a new Virtual Field Trip series, “Of the People: Live from the White House,” designed to offer middle and high school students unique access to White House professionals, experts and personalities in a series of 30-minute virtual events broadcast live from the White House and open to all classrooms nationwide.
This Virtual Field Trip series launched December 16 with a special look at the art and history of the White House, featuring curator William Allman. Students virtually participating in the webinar joined classrooms across the country to explore the art and history of the iconic building that has served as the primary residence for 42 of our nation’s presidents and their families for 213 years. Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) student Anasseh Holt joined the White House event, hosting a live interview with Mr. Allman.
All installments in this series will be streamed live on Discovery Education’s website at www.discoveryeducation.com//Live/of-the-people-history-and-art-of-white-house.cfm and will be supported with digital video and other learning tools to support student engagement.
“Innovative learning experiences, like Discovery Education’s new White House webinar series, are particularly relevant to our students,” said Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Dallas Dance. “These opportunities connect students to the people leading and shaping history and provide an unparalleled opportunity to see how education can lead to interesting and meaningful careers.”
Each webinar in the “Of the People” series will provide students and educators with a behind-the-scenes look at White House operations and an introduction to administration officials. Webinars will address topics that range from community service to climate change and from foreign policy to science and technology. A complete archive of all Virtual Field Trip sessions will be hosted on www.discoveryeducation.com.
