Price: Teacher Dashboard offers a free, 30-day pilot. Pricing is $4 per student per year and includes the Parent Portal. Remote Control (available only for Chromebooks) is an additional $2 per student per year (or $6 per shared machine). The Teacher Dashboard Innovator product is available for license by individual teachers for $99 per year. Google Apps pack and district discounts are available.

Format: Teacher Dashboard is an online, web-based program that works in conjunction with Google tools.

System Requirements: Browser Settings are available through the online support link. Directions are given for disabling popup blockers on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Description: Teacher Dashboard is an online organizational and management tool for teachers using Google Apps in their classrooms. Teachers electronically keep track of, distribute, and edit student work through this product.

Installation: After opening a new browser tab, type Installation Rating: A

Content/Features: Documents are organized by class for teachers. Organizational work is done by an administrator on the Google Apps domain.

Documents are organized by subject for students, who place their work into folders.

Student progress is quickly checked by the teacher, who hovers the cursor over links rather than opening individual documents. Teachers can filter by assignment title and other features. Students can be grouped and sorted to help teachers find a specific piece of student work.

Dashboard provides communication directly with students and parents through the Google suite of products that includes Google Docs, Sites, Picasa, Blogger, Gmail, Google+, and Calendar.

Remote Control allows teachers to monitor and control applications on a student’s computer from any location.

Smart Share makes it possible for files to be shared and copied quickly and easily.

The Parent Portal gives parents read-only access to their students’ work in Google Apps.

Teacher Notes is a place for educators to share information about students. Content/Features Rating: A

Recommendation: This site provides each student in the class with a folder where they place their work for the teacher to review, grade, and comment. It allows teachers to electronically keep track of, distribute, and edit student work and provides a shift away from correcting and filing paperwork.

Teacher Dashboard is useful for teacher-student collaboration, delivery of content, individualized instruction, and differentiation with students of all ages and all skill levels. Since Teacher Dashboard links to Google Apps, this tool is convenient and easy to use. It takes advantage of Google’s cloud-based storage and document management in a user-friendly manner.

One of the most effective features is the Remote Control option, which allows the teacher to more closely monitor the actions of an entire class working on the internet. This product works in conjunction with Chromebooks and is especially useful to teachers who are new to using Google Apps.

Teacher Dashboard is an invaluable tool that will save teachers time and makes their lives easier. It is an outstanding example of ways to move toward a paperless learning environment. Highly Recommended
