Reviewer Comments: Sublime Learning services include eTeachables giving the user more than 200 short video tutorials, along with models and templates. Each video demonstrates instruction methods using Kidspiration and Inspiration as its primary programs. It also provides instruction for use of whiteboards and assistive technology. Tools are modeled to show various ways in which the user can provide instruction for specific skills in reading, written language, and math. eTeachables can be searched by subject, grade level, and skill through the Professional Learning Portal, an online storage system for learning resources. It allows users to add resources and create resource libraries of combined Sublime and district materials, and it can monitor and report professional use by teachers. At the time of this review, current topics available in Professional Learning Bundles were Visual Learning with Kidspiration and Inspiration and Effective Use of Technology to Differentiate Instruction for LD and ESL Students. Services can be tailored to meet the needs for developing specific content or meeting specific district needs.

Installation/Access: Logon requires a password. The video tutorials load quickly and run smoothly as long as the user has the recommended bandwidth. Access Rating: A

Content/Features: Both Kidspiration and Inspiration are wonderful tools to enhance student learning. Learning theory states that the single most important factor in learning is linking new learning with students’ prior knowledge. The graphic organizer is a device for representing conceptual structures in two dimensions allowing students to link new knowledge to that which they know by means of a schema. One big advantage of using such a diagram is that it provides a visual image of the ideas and concepts being studied. It can be revised any time when new information is added, when new meanings are discovered, or when new links are created. The use of such diagrams allows clarification of difficult concepts, permits students to be active learners, and reinforces students’ understanding and learning in a visual form. Kidspiration and Inspiration software offer tools that help students create graphic organizers to develop and organize their thinking. By using the eTeachables for training and lesson design, teachers improve instruction and learning. Content/Features Rating: A

Ease of Use: Subjects, skills, and grade level searches for content are easily done. Watching the videos delivers teacher training in best practices. Note that adequate bandwidth is vital for loading and playing the videos in a timely fashion. Ease of Use Rating: A

Product Support: Product support is available by phone at (503) 830-7687 and toll-free at (800) 357-0763; the fax is (800) 613-3341. Customer service is available at Product Support Rating: A
