Reviewer Comments:

Installation/Access: Sokikom is easily accessed online with a username and a password. Installation Rating: A

Content/Features: Frachine focuses on fractions, decimals, and percents. Opirate emphasizes mathematical operations and algebra. Treeching concentrates on the principles of measurement, algebra, patterns, time, and money. Skills are correlated with National Council of Teachers of Mathematics curriculum focal points and Common Core State Standards.

Energy is required for play. The energy recharges based on a user plan of Basic (every 60 minutes) or Upgrade (every 15 minutes). This feature limits the time that a child can play. Soki-Bucks are earned by completing games or individual difficulties. They can be used for unique in-game or avatar items. The Upgrade Plan gives 20 Soki-Bucks upon sign up and an extra 20 every month.

Each game begins with a placement test so students are provided with appropriate skill tasks. Instructional help is offered through videos, and challenges are presented to those who need more advanced work.

A management system provides percentages by grade level, matching scores to learning objectives, and common core standards.

Sokikom can be used for enrichment to advanced students as well as an intervention for remedial students. It can be used to support teacher-directed instruction or as a center. The timed feature makes it easy for students to transition without teacher assistance. Parents who supply an email address can make this program available to their children 24/7.

Sokikom can be used by individuals as well as teams. Competitions and tournaments can be held within or between classrooms. Content/Features Rating: A

Ease of Use: Sokikom provides a collaborative learning environment that is easy to navigate. The control panel is easy to use and offers customized settings as well as a comprehensive overview of student progress. Ease of Use Rating: A

Product Support: Telephone assistance is available at (480) 788-1849. An online menu bar offers choices consisting of email, FAQs, and videos. Product Support Rating: A

Recommendation: Sokikom is an engaging math skills program using animation to teach basic skills correlated to core concepts in math. The lessons are short to hold the attention span of a child in the elementary grades. I liked the placement feature that quickly assessed the proper level for a child to begin. Immediate feedback is given when a child responds correctly. If more instruction is needed, the program offers help before allowing the child to move ahead. The school-home connection is excellent. Once parents have submitted their email addresses, access is available 24/7 with immediate feedback regarding students’ progress. The management system is easy to understand, and teachers and parents can stay informed regarding core concepts that have been mastered and those that need more attention. All scores are reported in percentage form.

This program provides a social learning experience that encourages children to help each other learn math skills. It meets individual needs and addresses learning styles. Highly Recommended.
