Content/Features: Science Power aligns its lessons with state standards and popular science textbooks. There are six units of study: Living Things, Ecosystems, Earth, Weather & Space, Matter, and Forces & Energy. Each topic has a number of lessons, study guides, and graphic organizers to enhance student understanding.

From the homepage of Science Power, students can access all six units of study, Science News with current topics in science, and a featured scientist. The teacher center allows teachers to set up classes and view student scores. Teachers select their science text and match lessons to both textbook and state standards.

One lesson is available for you to try for free. Take advantage of this model lesson to experience the comprehensive information presented. Under the Living Things unit, the topic is Behavior and Survival. Students can read the printed information aloud, view the accompanying picture, and select “Main Idea Check” to answer a question. They can then arrow on to the next page. The emphasis on vocabulary development is strong.

Each lesson includes experiments, extension activities, vocabulary quizzes, a student study guide, an interactive quiz, and more links to explore. Upon completion, students sign in to take a mastery test. Content/Features Rating: A

Ease of Use: Science Power is very user-friendly for both teachers and students. All text is written at two reading levels: on grade level as well as two grade levels below. This feature allows all students to work independently. Ease of Use Rating: A

Product Support: World Book Classroom has a comprehensive support system, reachable by email at Product Support Rating: A

Recommendation: The quizzes and text presentations are engaging and full of information. I liked the focus on vocabulary since so much of science is learning vocabulary. Science Power from World Book Classroom is another success. It captures required topics and brings in multimedia presentations to interest students. Keeping all students actively learning ultimately brings higher test scores and more successful classrooms. I highly recommend Science Power. Go to the website and follow the links to examine the model lesson yourself and you will be sold. Highly recommended.
