Description: 5D+ GoObserve is an electronic teacher observation and evaluation tool that was developed in partnership with the Center for Educational Leadership (CEL) at the University of Washington using the 5 Dimensions of Teaching and Learning teacher evaluation rubric in the only electronic package currently available.

Content/Features: 5D+ GoObserve is software developed by GoKnow using the mobile technology that has become part of daily life to do walk-through teacher observations and evaluations. It builds on the GoObserve platform by adding the teacher evaluation rubric developed by the CEL at the University of Washington.
The software allows users to change the type of observation or walk-through record they want to use for each observation and to take and embed pictures. Views within observations can be changed between pie chart and pictures.
Users can also change the label or code of activities following an observation or change the beginning and ending times of activities following an observation to correct errors. Evidence can also be coded to 5D+ teacher evaluation rubrics. Noticings, wonderings, analysis, and feedback can be documented with notes in both the review and edit modes.
5D+ GoObserve features include sharing and viewing data with other administrators through permission settings in “Connections.” Data from observations and walk-throughs can easily be accessed to look at trends in how students and teachers spend time and fulfill district-established criteria. Users can create and generate aggregate reports.
5D+ GoObserve uses a web-based, customizable, and secure form builder to create and email teachers premade or customized forms. Teachers can complete forms online and submit them to an administrator. Evidence and artifacts of practice supporting performance ratings can be uploaded and included.
Users can generate formative rating reports that include all formative ratings from both walk-throughs and lengthier formal observations on one spreadsheet by indicator, person observed, date of observation, and type of observation. Finally, a summary evaluation based on multiple formative ratings can be created and emailed, printed, and/or stored electronically in GoCloud, a GoKnow service available at additional cost. Recommendation: Mobile devices have become a fact of everyday life for students, teachers, and administrators and need to be incorporated into the instructional process. 5D+ GoObserve is well-developed, clearly thought-out software that does that, and I recommend it for any teacher evaluation. It will facilitate and improve the process. Recommended.
