For March 15, 2011: News about the recent earthquake in Japan has provided a learning opportunity. One of the best resources for earthquake information is from the U.S. Geological Survey: The U.S.G.S. Earthquake Hazards Program. Here you will find earthquake topics, facts, resources, glossary, and today in earthquake history. For elementary students, there is a section called Earthquakes for Kids that includes the latest quakes, animations, photographs, science of earthquakes, and ask a geologist. Consider incorporating this teachable moment into your current events lesson.
