For August 15, 2009: Explore the wonders of astronomy at the Eyes on the Sky, Feet on the Ground website from the Smithsonian Institution through a variety of activities designed for elementary teachers and students. Learn about the earth's rotation and how shadows are formed. Observe the seasons and the difference between summer and winter sunlight. Read and make maps. Investigate planetary orbits. The activities are fully illustrated and contain detailed, step-by-step instructions as well as suggested discussion topics. A supplementary online book, Everyday Classroom Tools, is focused on the inquiry process. These lessons can be integrated into your core science curriculum.
