For November 1, 2010: At the USDA Forest Service's and Ad Council's Discover the Forest website, find a forest or park by typing in your zip code, then start exploring! The Forest Service and Ad Council are encouraging tweens (8-13) and their parents to re-connect with nature. Several activities, from identifying and drawing animal tracks to finding your direction without a compass, are presented in a booklet that can be printed and carried on field trips. Students can also contribute photographs they have taken on their excursions and print pictures from different forest habitats. Links to other resources are included for further research.
