For July 15, 2015: Picture your students as curators, historians, and archivists in a museum. CampSilos: The History Center Excursion, sponsored by the National Parks Service's Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area, virtually enables that!! From the site, have your students choose an activity such as telling the story of industrialization in Iowa during the 1800s and early 1900s. After they complete the assignment, they will understand the roles of the curator and historian plus the research process necessary for gathering information. These activities can be adapted for any community so be sure to visit this site for ideas.
