For November 1, 2012: Need some ideas and tips for teaching novels in your middle or high school classroom? Check out In Search of the Novel, a free online video workshop produced by Annenberg Learner (formerly Annenberg Media), a unit of the Annenberg Foundation. The series is composed of eight workshops demonstrating strategies for teaching; ten novels, including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and To Kill a Mockingbird; and ten novelists, including Toni Morrison and Charles Dickens. In addition, there are examples of lesson plans. Although the production of this series dates to 2000, the authors and novels are timeless. There are plenty of suggestions that will inspire you and your students.
